Let's be clear here, home field advantage is crucial to this battle. If we are talking about an environment that is artic cold or even tundra cold, the Polar Bear is smacking the shit out of the Kodiak.
However, any further south than the Tundra of northern Canada and the Polar bear will suffer the detriment of being fatigued and severely hampered by heat exhaustion.
Lets not forget the Kodiak hails from Alaska, not exactly a tropical environment. I pick the polar bear, because it does battle on a daily basis with a dangerous advisary - the walrus.
Are you guys aware of the size of a Polar Bear? An adult male can weight up to 1500 pounds and can reach up to 10 feet standing. If its north of Alaska its over
Well, Kodiak bears are bulkier and heavier when full grown. Polar bears are more slender, but are usually longer. The truth is, they both are formidable animals. It would be a quite even match. However, there is one interesting factor nowadays that could decide the outcome of such a fight; polar bears no longer reach the enormous sizes they used to, because of scarcity of food (this being an effect of global warming). Which means that today, the biggest kodiaks are probably bigger than the largest polar bears.
Ahem...Fouad the Fair, lets keep politics as far away from this blog as possible. PhrosTT made a valid point, based on scientific fact. Please don't ever mention Al Gore in this blog again unless we are discussing how quickly it would take for a chimp to eat his face off.
IN A TIGHTLY CAGED BATTLE ROYALE, CONSIDERING ANIMAL BEHAVIOR, THE POSSIBILTY OF ALLIANCES/NON-AGGRESSION TREATIES, WHO WOULD BE THE LAST BEAST(s) STANDING? (All males)

ReplyDeleteValid points, however the ferocity of the Grizzly should not be taken lightly. This is a female with cubs taking on a massive caribou.

ReplyDeleteKodiaks are the same exact size. I still put my money on the Polar Bear.
